I think it’s safe to say that every business owner was thrown a curveball over the last month. My heart goes out to those who have been negatively affected (whether through a loss of income, closures, etc.). And, I commend those who have been at the forefront of fighting COVID19 so the rest of us can feel safe or experience some ounce of normalcy.
As a business owner, I understand that these are trying times. I have seen some owners use this time to work on things they may not have had the time to work on before, offer temporary services to maintain a connection with their audience, or re-configure their business plan.
Sometimes, the decision of how to handle your business during this time is influenced by the industry you operate within, the structure of your business and your ideal clients.
I am fortunate that I operate in an industry that is virtual, so the tools and resources my clients and I rely on are still operational. But, I also recognize that my ideal clients are seeing a decrease in income due to their ideal clients experiencing a loss in income. It’s a ripple effect that we will all see for a while.
I am thankful that I have a few client projects that will keep me busy this month and possibly next, but we do have a lot of uncertainty that lies ahead. I decided to use this time to work ahead. For when things, hopefully, get back to normal. I figured the time and effort I put into this now when my clients are ready I can devout more time and effort into their projects.
This month, I am focusing on a few key things
- Showing up and being consistent on my Instagram and Twitter profiles
- Launching a new store filled with resources for business owners and entrepreneurs
- Making improvements to my lead to client process and my client management process
Everything I am working on aims to provide more value to my ideal clients. My products and services may not be top of mind for them right now, but I want them to know I am here for them and will be ready for them once they are ready as well.
